When Art Imitates Life in Nowhere

Please click to enlarge the fuzzy photos!

There they stood proudly, in the North East center of town. A wonderful artist from the desert region of Nowhere was commissioned by the town council to fashion a statue of Bebe the Poot-Poot pilot in honor of her generous contributions to transport food and supplies to needy creatures residing in the distant environs of Nowhere.

One of the town council members, who shall remain nameless at the moment

felt that it was of the utmost importance to have his own likeness immortalized as well, in order to state to visitors and residents alike that NOWHERE is the place to come to get the best:

1. BLUEBERRY PIE
2. PG TIPS TEA
3. FUN AND LAUGHTER
4. ENDLESS IMAGINATIONS

With paw on hip and nose in the air, Tea Rat raises his tea cup and says, "CHEERS TO PENNY THE ARTIST FOR THIS MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT!"

"BRAVO!"

Look Out, Here Comes The Birthday Girl

We composed this birthday song in honor of our dear friend The Dutchess. (You can find her wonderful website here.) Sing along to the tune of "Spiderman" -- the 1960s TV cartoon. You can listen to the tune now playing, them shut off the sound and sing the words below.
-----

Birthday girl, Birthday girl

Not a Duke, not an Earl.

Dutchess this is your day

Beat the drum, hip hooray.

Look out, here comes the Birthday girl.

-----

Happy Birthday Dutchess.
From your devoted friends,

Granny Bloomberry

As the bubbles burst over Gretta's head she saw the paw reaching over the moss covered rock. She felt really really brave! Twas just a moment in time but it was enough "brave" for the battle! Just like her friend Mozes had taught little Gretta..."Face the giants in your life and knock em' dead Gretta!"

She gathered her courage in one paw and swatted at that big paw...A blueberry flew over the rock with another big ahhhh...chooo! Come out of there yelled Gretta! And, guess what? Out from the rock she came....landing flat on her fanny with a big ahhhh...chooo! Gretta got the giggles again and couldn't stop! The big monster had a blueberry on her head and didn't even know it. Her glasses were crooked also. Gretta could not believe the big ahhh..choooer was this old granny! With a sweet little voice the granny said..."Hello my dear little Gretta. Would you like a blueberry? You'll find my name on page 3 in your fairytale book." Gretta turned to page 3 and it showed a picture of her worse fear behind the moss covered rock. Twas the monster that threw rocks and blueberries...Granny Bloomberry was her name!

" Now Gretta, watch how fairytales come true...look back again at page 1 where you met Glimmer and Laiden and then on page 2...see how The Faerie Maiden of the Sea took you away on the little boat? Now, turn to page 4 and look behind the door..." Gretta turned the page and a wee little elf was sitting down...Kalmia Elf? The story told of Gretta eating Granny Bloomberry's magical blueberries and turning Gretta into an elf! Could it be true?
She heard a voice from the woods...it was Mozes and he whispered..."Yes...little Gretta, you can now be whomever you please to be...You have been changed forever and ever...for the good! The tasty blueberries you have always dined on have been good food for your belly but Granny Bloomberry's blueberries are magical."

Gretta was now an elf and she turned to page 5 and became a flower in her fairytale book...one that stood alone. She didn't want to be a flower...all alone.

Page 6 she popped two blueberries and became a beautiful plant. "No, no Gretta...you must THINK and WISH what you would like to be" Gretta immediately became a stork, a big beautiful stork with a crown. Oh....Gretta loved this journey to Nowhere! She could dream BIG and be BIG...BIG like Mozes, and even as BIG as Raccoon...Oh, how pretty she was as a stork!"
Gretta stood proud and looked way down at little Bebe, cute as can be. Gretta no longer had fur she had feathers! Could she possibly fly? All at once the fairy Glimmer flew by and landed on Gretta's beak. Glimmer put her hands on her hips and straightened her wings. "Oh, of course you can fly Gretta! What stork do you know that cannot fly? Here, in the land of Nowhere storks deliver the baby fairies. Now hold on to your crown and up, up and away we go"...leaving the wooded forest behind..

Gesundheit!

It was the perfect late-summer day; Gretta launched off in the dingy out onto the lake from the Castle of Butter with her little sprite friends. The wind was dancing with the surface of the water that rocked the old vessel like a loving mother gently lulling her child to sleep.

Summer faerie dust however, has an effect on Gretta's nose.

Gretta violently sneezed and suddenly found herself on shore, sitting in front of the Faerie Maiden of the Sea, who had come to shore herself and was now enveloped in wings of gossamer blue. Gretta herself had gone through quite a transformation, for she was now an elf.

The Faerie Maiden said to Gretta, "No longer shall you read the accounts of other story tellers, but it is time to tell your tale, Gretta....what shall it be?

All Creatures Great & Small

Gretta was exhausted from giggling and battling her fear of whatever and whomever was behind the rock. All was quiet in the forest as she opened the wee little book that promised that fairy tales come true.

As soon as she opened the book a warm breeze flew by...the color of pink and magenta. The breeze was delightful and this time it touched the tip of Gretta's ear. Little sparkles filtered down over her nose as she turned her eye's upward. Lavender plants were all around her and in a blink of Gretta's eye...a little tiny, tiny fairy appeared in all her glory. With her eyes down cast and her wings perfectly still...Gretta held her breath until her nose began to twitch. That something behind the rock let out a big ahhh...chooo...Gretta wished she could sneeze like that!

Gretta asked the little fairy what her name was and the fairy said nothing. Gretta asked her again and extended her paw. The little fairy climbed up on Gretta's paw, minding her manners she whispered...I'm Glimmer from the land of Nowhere and I have come to welcome the fairy child.
Gretta was speechless! Another fairy appeared out of Nowhere and she flew in smiling from wing to wing with a wee lady bug friend in her hand. She announced her arrival with such glee. I'm Laiden the Faerie Maiden from the Forest of Friends. I have come with a gift for the newborn fairy!
Little Laiden needed no invitation as she climbed up on Gretta's lap and blew a little bubble...up, up, up! Gretta watched the bubble float up over the big rock and all of a sudden a big furry paw reached up and popped the bubble.
Laiden took flight with Glimmer not far behind...

The Faerie Maiden of the Sea

"Time underwater is not measured as life is calculated above the sea; however for the sake of the residents of land and air in their anticipation of the new birth, the Faerie Maiden of the Sea is preparing each sprite of the forest with sea wings of turquoise blue to carry the little faerie into Nowhere."

As Gretta fumbled to turn the following page of the mysterious book, she heard a gurgling, bubbling sound from the pond...

What Gretta Saw

What you can't see but can hear, is usually what is the most frightening, and that is what little Gretta experienced. Her beady little eyes are not yet accustomed to seeing the faeries of Nowhere, but in the vicinity of the rumbling and grumbling under the rock, there stood three faeries, long-time residents of the wood. They too, heard the unusual sounds issuing from under the silky moss of summer, but rather, they stood in awe.

For under the cool blanket of green velvet covering teeming with life, there was the promise of the birth of a new faerie.

We all await with joyful anticipation!

Gretta gets the giggles...

Gretta scurried behind the biggest rock she could find. She could still hear something BIG sputtering and mumbling something and chattering and coughing and ahhhh..choooing! Her mind drifted back to her dear mama Girdle from Gothere. Her mama was a brave hedgehog and she always told Gretta to just stay calm and eat blueberries. They will calm your rattled nerves. So with all her might, Gretta closed her eyes and said to herself...Do not be afraid of the monster ahhhh...choooo-er. She reached deep down in her backpack and took out three fat blueberries and began to throw them over the rock! One bounced off something and she heard a "what was that?" Gretta began to get the giggles...and more giggles....she had to take two paws and slap them over her mouth...this was fun...Blueberries were flying over the rock like blueberry bombs...splat, splat...Gretta was no longer afraid of the ahhhh...chooo monster!

Fairytales in Nowhere

After a good nights sleep under the blueberry bush Gretta yawned, picked up her bonnet with daisy flowers on it and meandered down the path of life. The path to Nowhere lead in many directions...flying lessons, adventure, theater at it's best and even a few poots in the pink poot-scoot.
She came upon a rock, covered in thick moss and sitting there propped up against the rock was a book. It was an odd book, it was round, with seamless bindings...no author...just a title...It was wee and tiny, almost as small as a baby hedgehog.
Gretta's nose began to twitch. This happened whenever she was knocking on her noggin trying to get thoughts out...Should I peek? Should I leave it behind? Should I touch it? What if and why? With all the brain power she could muster she popped a good and healthy blueberry in her mouth and decided.....I won't peek yet. She looked north and south and up and down and behind and over and under and nowhere. She reached for her bonnet and as quick as a ladybug in flight she picked up the book and stuck it under her bonnet! Safe and sound...onward she scampered down the path to Nowhere.
Up the stone steps she went...she thought she heard a cough...cough, cough, sputter and sput and ahhhh...chooo!

What was that? Eeeekkkk...Gretta dove into the bushes. The wee little book almost fell out! All of a sudden a rock flew through the air and hit the pond with a splash! Then another and another...
Before she knew it, the little pond was filling with rocks and then she heard a sound like a branch breaking...was that a bear? Or a Raccoon or a mouse or a rat? She peeked around the big fern and saw a rabbits tail wiggling...was that Paisley Bunny playing hide and seek or was Gretta in danger?
and the Fairytale in Nowhere continues...
