                              ..in butterfly colors..because.its Summer..

AND

HERE I AM dearest Dutchess:

Tea Rat:

If you are wondering what happened to my beautiful rat-brown fur and my neon green boots, I'll tell ya, it takes a lot of energy to exude aqua blue
to become a fantastic butterfly! As you can see, I am not done with my colors. I plan to add purple polka dots and black trim!

I'm ready to play. Let's fly away on the wings of the travelin' sun. Come on Rattus, how about you. What's in your bag of tricks?

Tea Rat: Here we are dearest Dutchess! Rattus and I have emerged from the undergrowth.

Rattus:Yes, we have. I have dirt in my eyes since my colleague here insisted we be authentic and roll about in the dirt and pop up as if we were earthworms!

Tea Rat: But Rattus, we must FEEL and DO and TASTE the goodness of the earth and participate in her glorious welcome back into the sun......

Rattus: WHATEVER.

Tea Rat: Sign us up dearest Dutchess, sign ME up to meet Miss Moussie for some TEA on Tea Lake.

WE ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ARE BACK! MORE MORE!

RATTUS:
I love the good earth,
the air in the morning
after an evening rain,
the sound of the sea,
its regular rhythm
like my beating heart,
birds cawing,
fish going to school, being
Nowhere that's everywhere
I want to be.

TEA RAT: Why Rattus, you are waxing poetic on this fine summer morning.

RATTUS: It's the sweet morning air of Nowhere and the pricelessness of friends.

TEA RAT: Here here. To the pricelessness of friends.

TEA RAT: Now, how about more of that tea AND some buttered tea cakes, ay?

Rattus Scribus said...

RATTUS: Are we talking about a pot of summer tea blend and tea cakes with so much butter it runs downs your paws?

TEA RAT: Indubitably.

RATTUS: And great hunks of crusty bread with whopping dollops of strawberry jam?

TEA RAT: Incontrovertibly.

RATTUS: And...and great slops of clotted cream.

TEA RAT: Undeniably.

RATTUS: And all our good friends invited.

TEA RAT: Invitations went out yesterday.

RATTUS: Lovely. Let's eat.

TEA RAT: But the guest haven't arrived.

RATTUS: Fabulous. Let's eat.

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

Tea Rat: Here me old man? I MUST EAT!

Rattus: But butterflies eat like birds.

Tea Rat: I mean I MUST EAT. Did you see how all that blue hue for my wings sapped me of my beautiful browness? I must eat, and your invitation to eat tea cakes with globs of clotted cream are just what a sapped out rat needs. Let's get some of the Welsh tea cakes with the raspberry filling!

Rattus Scribus said...

Rattus: Son, you're white as a ghost.

Tea Rat: Small price to pay for getting butterfly wings. To flutter like a feather above the flowers and trees and rooftops. To smell the nectar of spring.

Rattus: Easy boyo. You're getting carried away.

Tea Rat: To smell freshly baked pies wafting from the kitchen windows of the world.

Rattus: What's that you say, pies?

Tea Rat: To feel the rapture of diving down on pies, pies, pies and nuzzle my muzzle into the crust, feeling it give way so I can withdraw the joyous fruit within like a butterfly headlong into a flower. All the pies of Nowhere, within my reach, with these wings, this transformation. Pies. Pies. Pies.

Rattus: Where can I get some wings?

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

Tea Rat: I GOT HIM! I enraptured Rattus with PIES! OK, now...to get your wings, just close your eyes, focus and PUSH. Push with all your might until all your energy is gone. You will find yourself undoubtedly, on the floor, your legs flailing up in the air. That's when you lift yourself up, flapping your arms. That's it! Then you're good to go fluttering and puttering to all the windowsills of Nowhere.

Tea Rat: Rattus! Follow me! I found a freshly baked CHEESECAKE with fresh raspberries on Bebe's windowsill!

RATTUS: Oh, I can't steal from Bebe; I just can't.

Tea Rat: Well then old thing, what good is it to have these fantastic wings if you aren't going to exploit them to your advantage? Let's just pop in at least and take a sniff and say "Hi" to Bebe!

BEBE: Dear Dutchess, will Miss Moussie be joining us? I see Tea Rat has a very different look today.. I must say, I love the wings...
I brought some more tea cakes with raspberry filling.. I know how how Tea Rat can eat! And what a poet you are this morning, Rattus!
I will return this afternoon.. I must go put on another pot of Tea and make a pie. Any requests?
love,
Bebe

Tea Rat: Now PUSH, PUSH, Rattus.

Rattus: I'm trying, I'm trying.

Tea Rat: No. Try not. There is no try. Do. Or no wings you will have.

Rattus: When did you start speaking in imabic pentameter?

Tea Rat: PUSH.

Rattus: I'm pushing.

Tea Rat: Push harder.

Rattus: I'm try.... Excuse me.

Tea Rat: Where you going?

Rattus: The little boy's room.

Tea Rat: Huh?

Rattus: The water closet, W.C., the privy, lavatory, outhouse, restroom, cammode, latrine, potty John's. You know the throne.

Tea Rat: I didn't mean that kind of push.

Rattus: Well, I'm not young anymore.

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

Tea Rat: OK, do we have to teach you to PUSH and DELIVER?

Rattus: I am NOT delivering a baby rat here, old thing!

Tea Rat: OH BEBE! HELLO! Yes dearest, I have a request; how about a strawberry pie with lots of whipped cream. That ought to motivate Rattus to grow those wings!

Tea Rat: Well good morning to you all out there in Nowhere! Yes dearest Dutchess, I'm just wingin' it with my aqua blue wings. Growing purple polka dots however, is not as easy as I thought it would be. The black velvet trim is not easy either! But don't my aqua wings look splendid? My brown color is coming back after having sapped my energy to grow these...that means my wings will be falling off soon, but while I have 'em, I'M FLYING! And flying to every cottage with an open window and a steaming hot pie on the sill! Bebe darlin', that whipped cream was rich and sweet. Thank you very much! NOW, for the next adventure! WEEEEEEEE
