A get well message to Dutchess from Bebe

I hear you have the sniffles!
I found this big apple tree... I will have Tea Rat help me carry them to the Hilltop for you... You know what they say about apples... And I will send a unused Hanky for you.  Maybe Rattus can make a special Tea for you too!
Be well soon dear Dutchess...
Love Bebe

TEA RAT: Whew.....here I am my sweet, I ran miles and miles to come to your aid; yes, Bebe informed us that you were ill so I conjured up a tisane of apple slices, cinnamon, lemon and other fine herbs for your delicate throat. Then my princess, the divine Miss M., will you join me on the stage for an opera? Will you sing for us?

WISHING YOU WELL dearest Dutchess (and Miss M.)

PENNY, BEBE IS BACK! Ohhhhh, she is her cute self, like always!

TEA RAT: I DID IT! Dearest Bebe and Dutchess and Miss M....I captured a giant bee that has given me access to his HONEYCOMB! I will prepare a pot of honey for you to take with lemon and the tea we are preparing for you. Maybe Bebe can make a little apple pie for you...an appeltaart?

A Honeycomb you say? Oh my, this will be good from her tender little throat.. Thank you Tea Rat!
Apple pie is in the oven..
love,
Bebe

TEA RAT: Bebe! Fire up that oven my sweet sister!

Dearest Dutchess,
I was away on lecture tour on the healing properties of apples and honey, when my dear friend Tea Rat apprised me that you were unwell, and as he had likewise informed me that dear Bebe had provided you with apples, I set immediately to the task of securing you some fine honey, the better to whip your infirmity with a double blow of apples and honey.
To this Tea Rat readily assented, adding that he knew where to procure the finest honey in all of Nowhere. But upon arriving at said terminus, I quickly realized that it was not some fine apothecary or place of business of any kind. Rather it was the largest beehive I had ever in my life seen, and behind me, a good deal behind, Tea Rat urging me on to procure some of that medicinal nectar for our dear friend bed-ridden with illness when it was within our power to save her.
So against my better judgement, and with Tea Rat now ensconced behind a distant log that I could scarcely make out his words like "For God and Country" and "Hip Hip Hurrah" and "I'm right behind you", I began scoping heaps of the molten amber into a bucket.
And just then, Tea Rat sneezed the loudest, most wrenching, guttural, neanderthal sneeze you have ever heard. And, as anyone with an elementary school education, or the common sense God gave a lemon, knows, bees are disturbed by the slightest of sudden noises or perturbations.

And the whole hive began coalescing into a menacing cloud of thunderous rage, whose lightning strikes of bee stings were directed precisely at me.
Now if you ever heard the phrase "scatter like rats" you get the drift of what happened next. I barely escaped with my life, but I am sorry to say that the bucket of honey was lost, and all I received for my trouble was a dozen stings on my fanny.
Tea Rat meanwhile was Nowhere to be found. And when I challenged him on the flagging of his machismo, he said that it grieved him to withdraw from the scene but that he was allergic to death.
So I close this letter dear Dutchess with two pieces of advice: eat plenty of Bebe's apples, and never on your life go hunting for honey with Tea Rat.

Your devoted friend,
Rattus Scribus

P.S., Can you spare a few apples?

Rattus Scribus said...

Dearest Bebe,
You are sweet to send our friend the Dutchess wishes and apples for her wellness. I was wondering if you had a few apples to spare to send my way? I'll leave it to your brother Tea Rat to inform you of the severity of my condition, the manner in which it arose, and his culpability in the matter.

Your devoted,
Rattus

My dear Rattus.
I see you have gotten yourself into a real pickle here.. I believe you will now need a donut to sit upon. I hope this will ease the pain of the nasty bee stings. Yes.... I have plenty of apples. More than enough to share with my esteemed friend..
Just know, the next time you go out for honey, wear a net...
yours truly,
Bebe

TEA RAT: BEBE! Our dear Rattus is surely in a pickle here! And a donut would be divine and....

RATTUS: The donut is to sit upon son, not to EAT.

TEA RAT: OH, HORSE FEATHER! Who would sit on a donut? One would just get his rump full of gooey, sugary frosting!

Angelsdoor * Penny said...

My dear Tea Rat... I am afraid you are incorrect... But I must say you are FUNNY!
love
Bebe

Rattus Scribus said...

Dear Bebe,

Can you please send me another donut seat cushion. But please just mark it "Cushion." Tea Rat ate the last one slathered with Devon clotted cream and a cup of Earl Grey tea. And now, well let's just say he's a bit green around the gills. So between my bee stings and Tea Rat's rotten plumbing, we could use all the apples we can get.

Your devoted
Rattus

Angelsdoor * Penny said...

Dear Rattus,
Leave it to Tea Rat to mess up a good thing! What will you do with. Ya have to love him.
So in answer to your question... Yes, I will go to the post tut sweet and mail out a new donut, MARKED " Cushion " .... along with more apples...
yours truly,
Bebe

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

TEA RAT: Now now everyone....be gentle on me! I heard DONUT, I assumed DONUT to eat....can you blame a rat?

Angelsdoor * Penny said...

You know we love you Tea Rat! All in good fun.. Even if you ate the Donut! teeeheee
Bebe

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

Tea Rat: And I say, let's have some more donuts. Let's celebrate the Dutchess's birthday all weekend long! teeheee

Rattus Scribus said...

Rattus: Yes, let's celebrate the Dutchess's birthday. Only, please don't eat my new donut cushion.... Say! Where's my donut?

Tea Rat: Mmmph...chomp... chomp...gulp. What?

The Dutchess said...

Ow goodness me..I just stumbled out of bed towards my window to world and there you guys were...with apples..and donuts..sweet words..and cushions..a hunt for honey..ever so dangerous ..and a fanny !! That part was funny !
This immediately made me feel much better..

My dear Rattus ..please except my for ever gratitude for your bravery and courage..thank you !
My dear Tea...please know, that I am sure you did everything possible to help Rattus in you very own special way..

TEA RAT: Dearest Dutchess and our beloved Miss M......it is with great honor that I reveal that I have caught my own personal honey bee and we have sealed a deal to manufacture our own honey. My new enterprise is "Bee Happy Farms Honey" and.....

RATTUS: You have caught WHAT? COME AGAIN? I thought we agreed that you were going to stay away from bee hives and such? What oh, WHAT dear Nowhereians, am I going to do with this room mate and colleague of mine that won't stop bringing stray animals home!!

Dearest Dutchess, we wish you HEALTH and HAPPINESS (and the rest of you who are feeling ill!)
