You've Got Something in the Post

RATTUS:

...and she even signed it so fondly and...

"starlet" needle felted mouse penny white!

RATTUS
(yelling from the other side of the cottage):

TEA RAT! Your mobile was ringing; someone left a message...something about, "I followed your detailed instructions and wrote what you wanted and did you get the pin-up?"

What has he done now...

Dearest Tea Rat,
Please tell me dear Sir.... What is it in this long legged Mouse that you find so very attractive?
It was my hope that I would always be number one in your heart.
Your lost love,

Tea Rat: Hey Rattus, I just finished a rough draft of a poem to Starlet. You want to hear it?

Rattus: I am so sorry, son, but I am in the middle of something vitally important: Mea culpa, sed attondeo meum unguium.

Tea Rat: Look if you don't want to listen to my poem, just say so. No need to get all Medieval on me.

Rattus: Mea culpa, sed attondeo meum unguium is Latin for, "My bad, but I am trimming my fingernails."

Tea Rat: You're passing up my poem to cut your fingernails. That hurts. Right here, in the old "Cor". That's Latin for "Heart," as in you took my heart and stomped it flat.

Rattus: OK, ok. Mea culpa. I'll listen to our poem.

Tea Rat: You sure? You're not just humoring me? You really want to hear it? It means that much to you, more than that trimming your fingernails?

Rattus: You're going to keep holding that over me aren't you?

Tea Rat: In perpetuum ad infinitum.

Rattus: Look, read me your poem already. I am experiencing a vexing cephalic botheration projecting from my occipital all the way down to the bottom of my pedem.

Tea Rat: OK. Here goes. Here goes.
Te Amo, Starlet.
Fin.

Rattus: O Deus meus.

TEA RAT: Well said, old man! O DEUS MEUS, MON DIEU, DIOS MIO.....you find my poem a lofty expression worthy of such praise? Excellent. I'm running off to the publisher's shoppe right now and insisting on getting this published.

RATTUS: God glory.

TEA RAT: Precisely.

Rattus Scribus said...

Rattus: Look. It's not that I don't like your poem. A poem need not be long or weighed down by too many words. Sometimes, the most beautiful and moving poems are short. Just don't be afraid to stretch your poetic abilities, you know, go the extra mile and all that.

Tea Rat: Sure, sure. How's this.
Te Amo, Starlet.
I mean Te really Amo.

TEA RAT: So, you think, I mean, you REALLY think I have a chance with Weatherby and Sons Publishing House? I will put your name as a reference my most esteemed friend and let them know you are my publicist and that you 100% validate all my writings and...

RATTUS: WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE!

TEA RAT: OK, I'll make you my manager and agent, how about that? DONE! Let's go...

Rattus Scribus said...

Rattus: Hold on, son. First of all, no. Second, I know nothing of being a publishing agent. Third, no. Fourth, I can't say in good conscience that I validate any of your writings, let alone 100%. And fifth, the answer is still no; it was no when I said it the first time; it is still no now; it will be no tomorrow; and it is eternally no -- in saecula saecluorm.

Tea Rat: Dude, CHILL OUT. Excuse me. I mean, REGENTIBUS FORAS.
