Finding a Good Milliner

Little did Tea Rat know that a milliner is a seller of WOMENS' hats....but that

didn't stop him from escorting Lily the Bear , his new and lovely little friend, to

the Easter Parade in Nowhere!

Happy Spring EVERYONE!

oh my, am I behind...Easter parade already? I know I have an old bonnet lying around here somewhere...hhmmm now let me think, where ever did I put that silly looking bonnet? Hey TeaRat, you suppose a baseball cap could pass as a bonnet...silly me, I know it won't do, I'll keep looking, but theres just no way my old bonnet will ever compare to Bebe's with the long ribbons! Rattus: TeaRat! You're losing it son! What are you wearing, you silly bugger?

TeaRat: I should think that should be obvious, especially to an observer as astute yourself.

Rattus: I just want to hear it from you own lips. I need to be reassured that this just another of your normal run-of-the-mill lunacies and not something I should REALLY be worried about.

TeaRat: Very well. An Easter bonnet.

Rattus: Then you are lucid as to your actions? You haven't cracked your head and gone completely barmy, daft, mental, unhinged, mad as a hatter, potty?

TeaRat: Can't a rat try on an Easter bonnet?

Rattus: My dear deranged rat, it's simply not dignified, to say nothing of the talk of two male rats living together and you prancing about in Easter bonnets.

TeaRat: Your point being?

Rattus: That folks will think we are more than... you know ...friends.

TeaRat: Why should they think that?

Rattus: Because they might not be privy, as I am, to the fact that "normal" for you is being a few sandwiches shy of a picnic. You know? That not all your dogs are on the leash. No grain in the silo? Half a bubble off the plumb? That your petrol tank is filled with echo instead of ethyl. That a penny for your thoughts gets one change in return?

TeaRat: What ARE you babbling on about?

Rattus: Son, I think the cheese has finally slid off your cracker.

Teeeeheheheeeeee oh dear, you really are a piece of work my dear Rattus...don't you know me by now that I love to yank your chain? Ruffle your feathers? Stir your waters? Oh my dear, dear fellow....you're just jealous 'cause I get all the ladies....

My dear, dear fellow. My fear is that your behavior will get you all the blokes.

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

TOUCHE. HOWEVER, have you EVER seen any blokes knocking at the door of Wits End? It's ALL LADY MICE! They find me charming, alluring, sensitive....you need to don a colorful hat old man and come on and join US! RAT-TUS RAT-TUS!!!! DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE? ARE YOU CHEEKY? Let's see....

Christel said...

Tea Rat, you are indeed charming, and have such charisma! Rattus, I've always heard you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but perhaps old rats could still learn a thing or two! A snappy new hat, perhaps a flower or two wouldn't hurt a bit. I think you have the potential to be a dapper Don Juan...hhmmm now where did I put my fancy ribbon, I need to dress up my hat! ~Hazel

Rattus Scribus said...

Do I have the courage? Listen, tis not a matter of bravery, but decorum and dignity. What would my students think if I came to class wearing an Easter bonnet? Would they ever take me seriously again?

And as for Don Juan, I've never met him but I'm willing to bet that his legendary way with the ladies did not come from wearing bonnets on his dates. BUYING them for his dates, sure. But wearing them?

No. I feel certain that old Don Juan would vindicate my intransigence in this.

YOUR WHAT? You lost me there old man, at the last sentence. OH,RATS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN as they say out there in that human world. Try a flower AT LEAST, in your lapel!!!!

Castles Crowns and Cottages said...

Go get Rattus some ribbon, Hazel. Let's tie up RATTUS!!!

Angelsdoor * Penny said...

Mum is laughing so hard I fear she may faint... so I will just say.. You crazy RATS!
Bebe

Teeeheeee! Don't forget to breath now, Penny....breath! YOU'RE NOT BREATHING!! There...ahhhh.......teeeeheeee! WE GOT LILY!!!!! YIPPEEEEEEEEEE

Christel said...

Crazy rats , yes ,I would have to agree, but it seems silly is the norm here at Nowhere, and perhaps at Wits End too. Rattus, I think your right, old Donnie boy did have a way with the ladies, and gifting them certainly is one way of persuasion, but a debonair Rattus with a fresh smelling flower in his lapel..hmmm now that would be smooth! If that doesn't convice you, I have plenty of ribbon, and a mean streak .... I'm thinking Tea Rat could hold you down, and Bebe could tie a pretty little bow to go along with your easter flower. HeeHee~ Hazel

Angelsdoor * Penny said...

I am ok now.. ahhhh..... What a HOOT THIS IS... Oh yes! We are soooooo excitied! Lily is traveling tomorrow...Tell Tea Rat to set an extra plate at the table!
