Tea Rat: O, goody, goody. Christmas is coming to Nowhere.

Rattus: That's nice. Now pipe down. I'm trying to read the paper.

Tea Rat: But Christmas is coming HERE, to NOWHERE. That's bettern' Christmas in Narnia, or Rivendell, or OZ, or America or...

Rattus: Woah, woah. Hold on to thy horses. Narnia, Rivendell, OZ, these places I've heard of. But what is...uh...what did you call it, Am-ir-i-goose?

Tea Rat: America, America. You know that silly place across the pond that was once a colony and now fancies itself to be (get this) a...tee...hee...hee ...hee...a country...a "United States of America." A truly bona fide country of its own. Can you imagine?

Rattus: Oh, sure, sure. I seem to remember reading something about it in the Nowhere Gazette. In the back, in the Lifestyle section.

Tea Rat: America, America. How could you forget. Some of our dearest friends live there.

Rattus: Ah yes. America. And the people who live there are called...uh...uh...wait, wait, don't tell. I know this...AMERICANS. Ah, Americans. Didn't they invent something?

DUTCHESS! HALLO!

Ik wens u en uw gezin de meest magische en gezonde kerst! Met mijn liefde en genegenheid!

(I hope that was correct?)

Rattus Scribus said...

Rattus: Well I know they invented something. A new fangled processed cheese, as I recall. Processed by machine, if you can imagine? Heresy, I'd say.

Tea Rat: Yes, yes. But surely the little land across the pond is to be known for more than just inferior cheese.

Rattus: Of course, of course. Why, some of our dearest friends live there.

Tea Rat: Yes, and we have just received a Christmas card from our lovely American friends.

Rattus: Well, what's it say?

Tea Rat: It says: "We wish for all who find Nowhere to be our true home, all the best wishes for a happy Christmas and a New Year filled with love and friendship and promise of a bright future."

Tea Rat: Isn't that nice, dear fellow? America must a jolly place. We really must go there some time.

Rattus: If we do, we really must pack our own cheese.

Tea Rat: Oh yes, we must pack OUR OWN cheese for the trip to America; I hear tell they have very smelly cheeses that are covered in chocolate and capers...can you imagine that old man? Let us pack our valises and gather our tickets, for we are on our way to a peculiar place!

Tea Rat: Dutchess dearest...my Dutch is rusty, but my sentiments are always clear: I LOVE MISS MOUSSIE! Shall we join Bebe on the frozen pond and skate with her? Can you see me in my booted skates? Come on Bebe, Miss M., and Rattus, let's go skating!

Oh! Wow!
What an enchanting post, dear, lovely Anita!
Your paintings are divine. I especially love the goose you illustrated (if it is a duck, excuse my ignorance!)
And that castle display (there has to be a more magical descriptive word for the sheer whimsy of that scenery!) Oh! My! So fairy tale story book bliss!

Hope you are doing well in the sub-zero temperatures you are experiencing in Minnesota. Brrrr!

May you have a Merry Christmas too, my dear!

hugs

I am very late, better late than never to nowhere.
Love your art style and such stories of Christmas to behold.
Anita's theatre is divine, I have been working on a French theatre more and more detailed than my others this one will be a show stopper of age and beauty to perform on.

My dear friend, thank you for the art and beauty that always inspires a story for us to love, and the detailing in all you create to love that much more.

I am so looking forward to a new year and all it's newness sharing it with you.

See you soon.

Blessings into the new year
