Family Ties

Pippit Priceless took out her journal and sat under the mushroom. For once in her life, she was feeling somewhat funny. It was a funny feeling but really not that funny. She felt shy. Pippit disliked feeling that way. She wanted to make friends with that Hazel girl but Hazel always looked the other way. Pippit began to write in red...Little does Hazel know, I have much in common with her. I'm a bit of a missy fit too. Yes, I'm a living doll but nobody ever understood me in the dollhouse. I was adopted and some days it was such a flop. They always called me Mari but I wanted to be called Pippy. Then I arrived in Nowhere and I was named Pippit. I added the last name Priceless because I don't wanna, no I don't wanna be no missy fit anymore!!! Pippit reached in her mushroom pocket for her pictures of home. She had to admit, she felt a little homesick...but she also felt a little funny...not the right kind of funny where you laugh. This was a funny feeling creeping up...so she wrote in green in her journal...I'm not so sure that I like that old stuffy dollhouse I lived in...perhaps Hazel would understand.
She looked at the picture of her make shift aunt and uncle who always sneered and snickered at her red and white stockings. She remembered the day Uncle Perfect stepped on her toe and did not even blurt out an apology...this journal entry required the red pen...fire burned within...Hazel would understand.

But then there was Auntie Precious...she was full of sweetness. The kind you find here in Nowhere. Pippit wrote in full living color...You were always looking out for me, you were always on my side. You made me laugh and you always let me swing from the parlor chandelier...Auntie Precious was perfectly priceless to me. She gave me great courage to be who I am. Will Hazel understand?

Pippit closed her journal and took a deep sigh. She had made her decision, she would try not to scare Hazel and she would try to be good even when she was tempted to be loud. That seemed to scare Hazel. Pippit reached for her trunk and decided to put on some slippers and walk softly around Hazel for a little while to see if Hazel would notice her.

If the slipper fits, we must wear it, no matter what happens next! Now where is that Hazel?
